I just heard that the Corpse Flower is (hopefully) blooming this week!
I've seen it once before and it smells awful but it's such a beautiful flower!
It's at the Huntington Library http://www.huntington.org/thehuntington _full.aspx?id=4132&terms=titan+arum
I hope I can make it :)
I did a Ponting workshop again - 3rd year. It's a 3 day workshop and I'm not the only one returning lol. It was great catching up with everyone :)
This was what I did. Well, the entire class worked on the same still life lol:

Finally set up video chat so I can talk to my parents! I love it :)
It's been overcast lately but it's wonderful

I had soooooooooo much fun at the workshop this past weekend. It was at the same place as
last year, the San Clemente Art Supply http://www.scartsupply.com/
There isn't one art supply store in Los Angeles like this place. I love it!!
I worked on my painting the full 3 days - it was definitely a challenge :)
Here's my finished painting 9 x 12 (ish) (a little blurry *sigh*):

I learned a lot and re-learned some things lol. Dianna Ponting is a wonderful teacher
and so cool and personable :)

I went last year and learned a lot - this will be an excellent refresher since i haven't done squat since
the last workshop....sigh.
i'm also thrilled about just leaving - LOL! getting away from the day job...and being by myself.
i'm sure DH is happy too - it's good to have a little time to ourselves :)
man, i can't emphasize enough at how thrilled i am to be away from work! lmao! i wish it was longer! it would be nice to be missed hahahahaha. i'm never away long enough to be missed though....

HI! I finally get to post about this! Last weekend (July 13-July 15)
I went to San Clemente, CA (at the San Clemente Art Supply)
for a 3 day workshop with Dianna Ponting. Every single artist(there were
15 of us) were the coolest, nicest, most down-to-earth people!
It was a great atmosphere and Dianna was incredible and soooo
helpful to share her skills and knowledge! Patti, the SCAS owner
was incredibly hospitable and I loved her cookies :)
Here's an exercise that all of us did, here's my finished allsorts candies:

Here's what I did after the exercise. This puppy isn't finished but here she is:
a mango:

Here's a link to my web album showing the cool people that attended
I thought I photographed everyone but they aren't all shown :(

And here's Dianna's website: http://www.ponting.com/
She's an incredible woman and i'm so happy that i met her :)

busy
i've been busy with work and being kinda lazy - hehe
as far as work goes - did a few commercials (don't remember
what products)and just finished a set for EA.
http://www.ea.com/
EA is a very cool place in Playa Vista. they make games - very cool
looking games of all kinds. well, we did a set for the Command and
Conquer thingy - i'm pretty sure that's what it was for - lol!
it's going to be like the news with an anchor and they will report
on peoples' scores, etc. they're dressing the set today and i'll
post a photo when i get one :)
i just officially signed up for a 3 day workshop with Dianna Ponting!
http://www.ponting.com/
i'm REALLY looking forward to this! she's one of the best pastel artists :)
there were only 3 spots left - mamma mia - it's in july - lol!
so i signed up and got a hotel -the workshop is too far away
to drive home each day. so it'll be a nice mini 'learning' vacation :)
i just bought some Terry Ludwig pastels (intense darks). everyone raves
about them so i just have to try! i also just bought some La Carte pastel
paper and Wallis paper (museum) - hehe yahoo!! (one sheet each *wink)
i also just heard from a friend of mine that i haven't seen in...let's just
say - many years - hehe. her name is Aracely and she's an awesome woman. she
found my mom on the web and my mom hooked me up with her email. so cool! i hope
i can see her in person soon :)
