That was an excellent talk. We don't understand the rate of our own consumption. He's a little ahead of the times, but that talk is definitely going to be a turning point for lots of people. Me, for sure. Life shouldn't be disposable. Thank you for posting this, Jen.

Hey Dawn :)
I think about my own consumption allllll the time! Have you heard about the garbage in the Pacific (near Hawaii)? It basically swirls around in the ocean - they call it "The Great Pacific Garbage Patch".

...and plastic surgery...ack - enuf said ;)

Yeah, my little sister got a nose job for her graduation. I asked my mom why the hell didn't I get boobs? =D

We recycle almost everything, in this house. Only thing that goes in the garbage are plastic wrappers. We could miss taking out the garbage for a month, and the bin wouldn't be full. Recycle bin, however, used to always overflow, until I started shredding cardboard as mulch for the garden. It works wonders, and now there's just glass and tin cans and paper packaging that won't work in my compost cuz of the waxy plastic crap they coat it with. I figure Waste Management can deal with it, because I can't.

One of these days I'm gonna by a chunk of land and just let other people's garbage rot on it, and then sell it to suburbanites as fertilizer. =P

Did I tell you were looking for a farm? Yup. Gonna foster a closed ecosystem.
